Assistant Secretary Simmons will then tour the trade show to meet with contractors and manufacturers to discuss federal energy efficiency programs.

In his role as Assistant Secretary in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Daniel R Simmons leads EERE to promote affordable and reliable energy to enhance America’s economic growth and energy security. He oversees technology development in energy efficiency, renewable power and sustainable transportation sectors.

Before joining the U.S. Department of Energy, Daniel served as the Institute for Energy Research’s vice president for policy, overseeing its energy and climate policy work at the state and federal level. He previously served as the director of the natural resources task force of the American Legislative Exchange Council, was a research fellow at the Mercatus Center and worked as professional staff on the committee on resources of the U.S. House of Representatives. He is a graduate of Utah State University and George Mason University School of Law.

Barton James, ACCA president and CEO said, “ACCA is once again, very proud to host Assistant Secretary Simmons for a keynote address, and is excited that he will meet with contractors and industry professionals to hear first-hand their concerns with the decades-long focus on equipment-focused efficiency programs. ACCA supported President Trump’s nomination of Mr. Simmons and his eventual confirmation by the Senate because he has proven to be a thoughtful leader who understands the need to emphasize the role contractors play in our nation’s efficiency portfolio. We look forward to continuing this great relationship with Mr. Simmons.”

This will be the third time Assistant Secretary Simmons has met with ACCA members. In 2017, he spoke with ACCA’s Board of Directors during their congressional fly-in and spoke about regulatory reforms taking place at the Department of Energy. ACCA also hosted him for a keynote address at ACCA’s 2019 conference in San Antonio, Texas.
