Warren Lupson Honored With ACCA's Spirit of Independence Award

March 12, 2016

ACCA, the nation’s largest association of indoor environmental systems professionals, honored Warren Lupson of Silver Spring Maryland, with the Spirit of Independence award at ACCA 2016 and the IE3 Expo in Charlotte, NC.

Lupson has long been seen as a leader in the HVACR industry and recently retired from Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) as the Director of Education.

Lupson began his career working for a manufacturer before opening his own HVACR contracting business in the Washington, D.C, area. After 27 years, Lupson sold his business to a consolidator, but continued working for them managing several of its companies. During this time, Lupson served on the ACCA Board of Directors. His dedication to the industry doesn’t stop with service to associations. Lupson has taught HVACR at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland, for 25 years.

“Warren is one of the strongest advocates that the industry has ever had, because he has the unique insight of having worked for a manufacturer, as a contractor, and for a leading trade association,” said Phil London, ACCA Chairman of the Board. “He has dedicated his life to this industry; growing it and making it more professional. It was an extreme pleasure to present him with this award, because he has been one of the great leaders for so many years.”

“Warren has been a long-time ally of ACCA and his work throughout the industry has helped raise the standards for everyone,” said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA President and CEO. “He has never hesitated to give his time or talents to efforts that strengthen our industry. Everyone has benefited from his efforts, which is why he is deserving of this honor.”

The Spirit of Independence Award is the highest ACCA honor in the HVAC contracting industry and is presented to an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions to the strength, success, and independence of HVACR contractors in the industry. It recognizes an HVACR industry leader who goes above and beyond his/her call of duty. Recipients display creativity, ingenuity, and perseverance in their pursuit of a better industry.
